Family Promise temporarily meets the needs of homeless families by providing meals, a homelike setting, emotional support, and a full range of social, economic, and educational services as they work their way back into affordable housing. The program's families stay each week at a different church, which provides evening meals and beds. During the day, parents either go to work or search for work while their children go to school. When not in school, children stay at the Family Promise Day Center.
As part of the network of churches helping Family Promise, SCUCC provides meals to homeless families for one week at a time, four different times per year. Our ministry to Family Promise has evolved over time. In previous years our members have gone to other churches to assist them in feeding and housing homeless families.
